What’s Happening This Summer in Toronto?

Whether you live in an apartment in downtown Toronto, a single family home in Mississauga, or a townhome in Markham, this promises to be a great summer in the Greater Toronto Area. Let’s take a look at some of the great events coming to the GTA this summer:

Mississauga Waterfront Festival – June 17-19

As the name suggests there is a not-to-be-missed festival hosted at Port Credit Memorial Park located at the Mississauga Waterfront. This three-day festival includes a carnival, concerts, live theatre, and of course a petting zoo. This festival has been voted among Ontario’s top 100 Festivals for 10 years in a row. Can you think of a better way to spend Father’s Day weekend?

TD Toronto Jazz Festival – June 24 – July 3

A festival tradition dating back 30 years is making its appearance once again in Toronto. The Jazz Festival is an amazing display of over 1,500 talented Jazz musicians at 40 different locations all over Toronto. The largest spectacle will be held at Nathan Phillips Square right downtown. Over 1,200 patrons can be seated and served in the square in an impressive liquor licensed marquee. Many events are free of charge.

Digital Dreams Festival – July 2-3

Jazz isn’t your thing? Well lucky for you there is the Nation’s largest EDM festival held at The Flats at Ontario Place on Canada Day weekend. Come and see over 90 DJs on different stages, including Armin Van Buuren and Gareth Emery.

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition – July 8-10

Once again located at the multi-purpose Nathan Phillips Square, you can find this amazing, free of charge entertainment. Don’t miss the opportunity to view paintings, sculptures, illustrations, and mixed media masterpieces by hundreds of artists of local and international renown.

Summerlicious – July 8-24

Thank goodness this festival lasts for two weeks because you will need all the time you can get in order to try all of the restaurants featured in Summerlicious. Take advantage of the opportunity to try new restaurants and appreciate more than a few culinary masterpieces. Set menus make it easy to try the best each participating restaurant has to offer. Just make sure to make your reservations in time!

Honda Indy Toronto – July 15-17

For a car enthusiast this will be the highlight of the summer. Come check out the racecars and watch as drivers race around the Exhibition Place Grounds on a 2.84km track. The energy in the crowd will make you feel like you were driving the car yourself!

Scotiabank Buskerfest – August 25-28

Make your way to downtown Yonge Street this weekend in August in support of Epilepsy awareness and you will be amazed at the talent you discover. From amazing, logic defying acrobat acts to hilarious comedians and everything in between you will not be disappointed, and of course all admission donations are going to be in support of Epilepsy Toronto.
